PS: This problem occurred just before I installed the SSD, but thinking it would be an easy fix, and being in a rush, I just cloned the old drive to the new SSD. These applications will identify and help remove duplicate photos from an iPhoto Library: iPhoto Library Manager - 29.95. ![]() Can somebody show me how to get to those duplicate files and delete them, so I can free up the space on my computer? I am used to the world of Windows where you just find the file and delete it. Finally, I wrote PhotoSweeper and they simply copy and pasted a basic answer that told me to do what I had already done. I then went to the iPhoto app and could not find the trash there either. So, I did more research and learned that the trash is actually to be found in the Photos app. This post contains files that may install malware or run destructive. I went to the bottom of the screen to empty the trash but couldn't find the photos/videos there. I then used the same PhotoSweeper app to send them to the trash. I purchased it and sure enough the duplicate photos/videos were found-well over 100gb worth. ![]() In my research, I learned I could purchase PhotoSweeper, which would located all duplicates. Uploading photos from iPhoto to Facebook via iPhotos built-in exporter has taken a turn for the worse for some users, not allowing uploading or downloading and often freezing while trying to connect. I deleted some miscellaneous things and now I am currently at 28.86gb free. I researched online and found that somehow the new Photos app had duplicated all my pictures and videos. Option 1: Download everything Optimized iCloud Storage (Image credit: iMore) If you have a small iCloud Photo Library (or a particularly large-capacity iPhone, iPad, or Mac), your simplest option is to turn on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac's 'Download and Keep Originals' setting. Suddenly the disk space was reduced to practically zero. I have a mid-2012 Macbook Pro with a 500gb SSD. Where is the PhotoSweeper trash folder? I cannot find it in neither the Photos app nor the iPhoto app. ![]()
